It’s possible that the Radio 2 “Sachsgate” phone prank scandal was the best thing to happen to Russell Brand’s career as he’s rumored to be close to signing a deal to appear in Pirates of the Caribbean 4. Johnny Depp’s doppelganger could play his onscreen brother Captain Jonathan Sparrow, and frankly, we think it’s a no-brainer.
“There couldn’t be a role more perfectly suited. There’s a lot of Jack Sparrow in his mannerisms and behaviour. Depp’s accent isn’t a million miles away from Russell’s either,” reports The Sun
We’ve got a soft spot for Russell (must be one of the only people he hasn’t yet slept with so surely it’s just a matter of time!) despite the media storm, and we hope it turns out to be true. Hey, he’ll easily replace Keira Knightley as our preferred eye candy. [Photo: Splash News Online]

It’s all over for the goth dandy at the BBC! After what’s being dubbed “Sachsgate” literally dominated the British headlines for a week — and complaints rose to 27,000 — Russell Brand last night dramatically quit his BBC Radio 2 show. Earlier that day, he and fellow presenter Jonathan Ross (whose $29 million deal with the BBC has come under fire) had been suspended pending further enquiries into the incident. It saw them leave lewd messages on 78-year-old actor Andrew Sachs‘ voicemail after Russell bragged about sleeping with his granddaughter Georgina Baillie, a member of burlesque group the Satanic Sluts
“As I only do the radio show to make people laugh I’ve decided that, given the subsequent coverage, I will stop doing the show,” Brand said in a statement. “I got a bit caught up in the moment and forgot that, at the core of the rude comments and silly songs, were the real feelings of a beloved and brilliant comic actor and a very sweet and big-hearted young woman.”
But don’t feel too sorry for him for nobly falling on his sword. “I’m now off to American to make quite a lot of films,” he said, yesterday. Lock up your granddaughters. [Photo: Getty Images]

He’s made a career out of being an incorrigible man-whore (OK, and funny with it), but Russell Brand is now facing a bad-taste overload after he left obscene messages on an 78-year-old actor’s phone. The VMAs presenter called up legendary Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs during his BBC Radio 2 show and left explicit messages on his phone about doing the dirty with his granddaughter Georgina.
“In a minute we’re going to be talking to Andrew Sachs. The elephant in the room is, what Andrew doesn’t know is, I’ve slept with his granddaughter.” Russell said, while fellow presenter Jonathan Ross shouted in the background, “He f**ked your granddaughter.” Not knowing when to shut the hell up, Russell left two more message, in one promising he wore a condom and he did her on a swing. Jonathan added that “he did her over the couch.” Nice.
The BBC is now facing censure for allowing the broadcast to be, er, broadcast, Russell’s made a half-assed apology and all 3287 (approx) girls who slept with Russell are now thanking profusely that their granddads aren’t famous ex-sitcom actors. [source: Daily Mail, Photo: Getty Images]

It’s worth bracing yourself for comedy’s newest coupling, after UK star Russell Brand made clear his intentions to seduce Sarah Silverman.
Russell’s already made somewhat of a ‘name’ for himself in Britain, after being linked to Kate Moss, Courtney Love, Kimberley Stewart and many, many more lucky ladies. (Can you tell we’re a bit biased?) And now, fresh from his MTV VMA presenting gig, he’s landed a one-off stand-up show on Comedy Central.
“Comedy Central is home to South Park, The Daily Show, and The Sarah Silverman Program,” Russell said. “I’m thrilled to have such esteemed neighbors. Particularly Sarah Silverman, whom I shall be troubling for cups of sugar and milk breast milk.”
You’ll agree, it’s not your average, common or garden chat-up line, but you never know, it may just work. We’re getting ready for the inevitable ‘I’m F*cking [insert A-list star name here]‘ videos, although in Russ’s case they may go on very long indeed. [The Sun; Photo: Getty Images]

It was baller vs. purity baller when Jordin Sparks struck back at Russell Brand after he mocked the Jonas Brothers’ promise rings at the VMAs: “It’s not bad to wear a promise ring, because not everybody, guy or girl, wants to be a slut.” Snap!
So where you do stand on the prude vs. slut debate? Are purity rings creepy or classy? Is she being self-righteous or was he being a dick? “F*ck ‘em if they can’t take a joke” or “F*cking is not a joke”? Scandalist just wants to know if she’s planning to launch a line of chastity belts—the market’s wide open (ironically).

Aparently, Russell Brand ruffled a few feathers at his first VMA hosting gig. After his hard work throwing out one-liners and trashing the Republican party, Russell hoped to let loose at the InTouch after party at Bar Marmont, located next to the famous Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. But he couldn’t get in!
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star got denied at the door. Luckily, he wasn’t far from home. Russell went home to the house he is renting in the hills behind the Chateau.

MTV Video Music Awards host Russell Brand thinks Brad and Angelina’s biological babies are too good looking.
“I don’t think they should breed, those two people. I think their adoption policy is probably better because when their genes come together, it creates a storm of attractiveness so potent that it could one day bring down the planet,” he told UK newspaper The Sun.
The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star, who just filmed a suggestive VMA promo with Britney Spears, added, “No one needs a baby with eight-inch-long eyelashes.”
Tune in to watch Russell host the VMAs on MTV live Sunday September 7th at 9pm ET.

Britney Spears, VMA host Russell Brand, and a 900-pound “elephant in the room” filmed a promo for the MTV awards show, creating further buzz that the pop star will return this year in an attempt to redeem herself after last year’s lackluster performance. In the promo, Russell suggests there is sexual tension between them, but Britney shrugs, “I didn’t feel any tension.”
Britney’s “Piece of Me” has been nominated this year for two “Moonmen” in the Best Female and Best Pop Video categories, but her attendance has not been confirmed.
“Everyone deserves a second or third chance, right?” MTV president Van Toffler teased in June.
Despite never actually winning a Moonman, Britney’s liplock with Madonna and dazed performance have gone down in television history. Tune in to the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 7 at 9PM ET. [Photo:Getty Images]
