Family Says Dead Idol Contestant “Not A Stalker”

The drama continues in the wake of the tragic suicide death of Paula Goodspeed, the scorned American Idol contestant and Paula Abdul fan found dead in her car outside of Abdul’s home. Goodspeed’s brother Charles McIntyre is speaking out in defense of his sister, and told E! Online that “she was not a stalker.” McIntyre insists that his lil’ sis did not have a criminal record, mental problems or suicidal tendencies, and that she was “just like anyone else, trying to make it big as an actor or singer.”

McIntyre also asserts that Paula had coffee with her idol, Abdul, in 2005, something the singer has yet to comment on. But a source close to the American Idol judge reveals that Goodspeed had apparently exhibited eccentric and inappropriate behavior, including sending Abdul flowers that claimed to be from her boyfriend, phone calls, letters (over 100), and visit attempts. The wannabee Idol also changed her name from Sandra to Paula, but her brother says it was done sixteen years ago, soley because she liked the name. Still, no one seems to have a concrete answer as to just what happened, or why. “Why they found her dead in her car near Paula Abdul’s house, I do not know,” said Goodspeed’s niece. “But I don’t believe my aunt killed herself.” [Photos: GettyImages, WireImage]

Bennett gave birth to a baby girl yesterday in Minneapolis, after five hours of labor. She named her new 5 pound 15 ounce bundle of joy Egypt. Paris - whose new album drops next week - gushed about her little girl: “I’m so excited to finally see my little angel – and man, does she have lungs on her. I guess she’s gearing up to be the next American Idol.” The identity of the child’s dad remains a mystery to fans and gossips, and Bennett’s mom reveals that he, “chooses not to be in the public eye.”  [People. Paula Abdul Is Pissed About New Idol Judge

Paula Abdul is not exactly pleased about Grammy-nominated songwriter Kara DioGuardi being added as a fourth judge on Fox’s American Idol. This morning, on Phoenix’s Johnjay & Rich radio show, she said, “I am concerned about the audience and acceptance. Time will tell. We’ll see.” But Idol producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz has a different take: “We’ve seen from our international series that having a fourth judge creates a dynamic that benefits both the contestants and the viewers.” Nothing like a cat fight to keep ‘em watching!

Abdul claims she’s not jealous, just concerned for the kid. “That’s gonna be weird if it’s a split decision,” she explained. “It takes the fun out of all the hard work I do to push those kids through.” Apparently, it’s really “hard work” to stay awake and mutter incomprehensible soliloquies. DioGuardi’s songs have appeared on more than 100 million records by the likes of Christina Aguilera, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers. Her songs have also been used by past Idol contestants including Katharine McPhee, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, and Clay Aiken.
