Citizen Scandal: Do Babies Born On Planes Get Free Miles?

So if Sarah Palin is the mother of young Trig, why did the Alaskan governor take a 12-hour flight while her amniotic sac was leaking? Judging from the recent excitement over a baby born a plane between Hong Kong and Australia, she may have been trying to get the kid a lifetime pass on Alaska Airlines.

When Pawan Deep Kaur was born aboard a Cathay Pacific flight going from Hong Kong to Adelaide, Australia, many people believed the company would give the child free air travel for life, as it’s allegedly protocol for all airlanes. But the company says the kid will have to settle for a pin with wings on it. “In the early days of flying, I think there were a couple of American airlines that did in fact give kids that were born on their flights free life passes,” said CP’s David Bell. “But nowadays, unfortunately, it’s totally impractical with just the high volume of travel and the availability of seats.” Maybe Palin also heard this rumor, and decided that, with a 12-hour-flight and a broken sac, the odds looked pretty good.  [ABC News]
